Agnes Alexander aka Lynette Hall Hampton aka Martha aka Moo-Moo
Where do I start? I guess it’ll have to be the beginning. I was born on 12/28—I’m not advertising what year because sometimes I can’t believe I’m as old as I am and at others, I’m bragging about my age. Anyway, I was named Martha Lynette Agnes Hall. Granny Mamie Agnes Bumgarner (Mom’s mom) didn’t want me to have the Agnes name because she hated it, so it was dropped. When I got married, I became Martha Lynette Hall Hampton. Martha Jane Hall was my grandmother on my father’s side. When I wrote my first mystery book, I wrote under the name Lynette Hall Hampton, the name family and most friends know me by. When I switched from writing only Mystery to mostly writing Western Historical Romance, I used the penname, Agnes Alexander. Stick with me. I’ll get to Moo-Moo.
In 1996 my first grandchild, Trent, was born. Since his other grandmother was called Nana, I couldn’t decide what I wanted him to call me. That didn’t matter in the end. For some reason he dubbed me Moo-Moo. Strange, but cute.
When his little sister, Blaire, came along, of course, she called me Moo-Moo, too. Others began to use the name, and it wasn’t long until all their little friends knew me as Moo-Moo. As time went on, the name stuck and now as many people know me as Moo-Moo as they do Martha or Lynette or Agnes or whatever comes up.
So, it all comes down to this — I’ll answer to most anything, but for now I think I’ll just stick with Moo-Moo. It seems the name is here to stay as long as I do.

In each post, I want to share a little of my family with you. This is a picture of the youngest in our family. My grnddaughter, Blaire when she was about 2. (She graduated this from High Point University with a major in Dance and Maketing Communication.)
What do you mean I can’t have a real live flamingo for a pet?
(I translated her words into grow-up language because you’d never figure out what she really said with all the crying and arguing when we tried to tell her we couldn’t buy her a flamingo for her birthday because they didn’t live in our section of the country.)
